For the past decade I have used Netspend and American Express Bluebird. I tried to use Brinks and I have an active account but early on I realized they were not the service for me. In short I've probably used all or most of the prepaid cards for one reason or another. You can check out the terms and conditions of each card, but they all charged ridiculous fees. And although each card has a security feature, it seem as though it never benefited me. Random rejected purchases and transactions were so inconvenient. and embarrassing. It was impossible to set up and automatic bill pay. And using my cards for business cost me a ton of late fees and cause other transactions to not get paid.
For example, I'm a contracted driver, I use my debit card to get gas, a business expense. My phone in which i use for work is also a business expense, its on automatic bill pay. Well the gas purchased required a hold on my account for double the amount of the purchase. Waiting 5 to 10 business days for my funds to be returned, shuts off my phone for non payment. Frustrated to no end, i stopped using my prepaid accounts and debit cards. Which was a huge mistake I would learn later.
So now I'm using my main account for everything. Suddenly I noticed my online office had been hacked. That was Oct 2018. I will never know how deep the hacker got because I ended up replacing my PCs in my actual office because of it.So after replacing my systems I had to go on a hunt to seriously secure my banking situation. Thats when I stumbled across Chime. First by way of a TV Commercial. Then later I learned some one close to me had one. I went online ordered, set up my account. And i will admit I expected a debit card account similar to the others. I assumed this prepaid account was new but no different from the ones I've already had.Boy,I was wrong, Chime Bank was better in so many ways.
My view regarding Chime; Its a prepaid account miss categorized. Its a Bank with a prepaid feature. That is you can't make transactions with Chime if you don't have any money in the bank, period. After 4 months of use, I've reviewed the features and benefits of Chime. Chime is an actual bank. A second change bank. Its easy to get and the debit card comes in the mail.Set up your checking and savings account immediately online. your card comes with a banking app that is easy to use with a ton of cool features. No charge. No ChexSystem clearance required,or overdraft fees. There is no credit check required. I have not paid a overdraft fee, or monthly account service fee. I do not pay a ACH transfer fee. There is no payment to replace a card. No ATM (in network) fees. No foreign transaction fees. Over the counter fees range from 2-5 dollars and out of network ATM fees $2.50. Chime Bank does not collaborate with ChexSystem. So far Chime Bank has been good to me so far. If you need a real bank with no credit checks, no Chexsystem requirements you should check into Chime Bank.
