New Delhi: The opposition parties suffered a major setback when the Election Commission rejected their demand to verify VVPAT slips before counting of votes. The Election Commission stated that the demand of the opposition parties would further delay the announcement of election results. The verification of VVPAT slips will commence only after the counting of votes recorded in the EVMs.
