In today’s video, Marriage Helper’s Dr. Joe Beam, speaks with Client Representative, Amber Nickle, about how she is dealing with a child with a special need. Amber explains how she was not prepared nor equipped for her son's special needs, all the responsibilities, and external burdens. How that stress led to miscommunication in her marriage and ultimately led to her husband's affair.
Statistically speaking, that for many marriages the birth of a first child becomes the first major problem because now they don't have all the time for each other like they used to have. Amber and her husband felt completely inadequate to take of their son's specific needs and that added stress led to pain and brokenness.
Dr. Joe Beam explains that when expectations are not met we feel pain and that pain can often turn to anger.
