READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF QUITE A FEW: So the phrase "quite a few" can be somewhat confusing for people who are learning English because you might have learned the word "few" and if I was to say, "I went to watch a basketball game and there only a few spectators there." It means that there wasn't very many spectators there to watch the sport. But if I go to a basketball game and I say that there were quite a few spectators there it actually means that there a lot of spectators there. So if I was to say there were just a few or there were a few it would mean that there weren't very many but if I was to say that there were quite a few it would mean that there are a lot there. Right now I'm making supper for my family. I shouldn't be outside because I have quite a few things on the stove cooking right now, and I shouldn't be outside without watching them, so I'm gonna go back in now.
