VOLUNTEERS brushed up their painting skills to lend a hand to a community project at Morpeth. A new garden is being established behind the Stobhill Link headquarters at Shields Road.
It is one of many initiatives the organisation is undertaking to tackle social, economic and welfare issues in the area.
Stobhill County councillor John Beynon has provided £2,000 from his members’ fund to get the scheme under way, including the provision of fencing.
He turned out to help paint the fence along with young people from the National Citizen Service - a voluntary personal and social development programme for teenagers - and local residents.
We spoke to Brooke Burgess, Stobhill Link Manager, about its work in the community and how the new garden will help meet its objectives.
