✔️SUBSCRIBE✔️ How good are you at achieving your goals and setting yourself apart from the competition? In this video, I offer two great life lessons I’ve learned from restaurant chefs: Focus on the end game and use your secret ingredients.
If you’ve ever worked at a restaurant, you know that anything and everything happens in the kitchen. Dinner service can start out fine but get derailed – something burns, an order gets lost, you run out of a staple item, or your sous-chef doesn’t show up for the shift.
How do chefs react when things go wrong? They take each distraction as a matter of course, and they adjust as they go. To chefs, it’s all about results – winning the end game. Did guests enjoy their meals? That’s all that matters.
You may have perfect plans going into a project, but setbacks are inevitable. Try to see the big picture. Achieving your goals often requires many twists and turns along the way, but outcomes count most.
One of the great life lessons I’ve learned from working in the restaurant business is how important it is to stand out from the crowd. The food service industry is extremely competitive. Every restaurant has to demonstrate how it’s special.
Whether you’re starting a business or interviewing for a new position, tap into what makes you different. Highlight your unique characteristics and show what you bring to the table. Give people good reasons to get on board with you.
