Keratoconus: Scleral Lenses Are An Alternative to Corneal Transplants

Keratoconus: Scleral Lenses Are An Alternative to Corneal Transplants This patient was diagnosed with keratoconus. She was originally prescribed with RGP hard lenses, which were very painful and fell out all the time. She was then told needs corneal transplant. After the transplant her vision was blurry and she still had to wear glasses as her vision was not great. Some time had passed and then she was told she needed to have another corneal transplant and was never told about (scleral) lenses. Thankfully she sought another opinion and after several visits, she was successfully prescribed with custom scleral lenses. She now has great vision with great comfort.
