Man arrested after locking girlfriend out of house and pointing gun at cops

Man arrested after locking girlfriend out of house and pointing gun at cops On Sunday afternoon, Deputy Lawrence and Deputy Barry responded to a home on Princeton Road in DeLand after a woman reported her boyfriend locked her outside her own house.

Howard Coleman refused to unlock the doors or come out.

As Deputy Lawrence tried to talk to Coleman through a window, Coleman produced two handguns and pointed them at both deputies.

The deputies backed away and took cover.

After about 3 hours, Coleman came out of the house with his hands up and was taken into custody without further incident.

Later, a search of the house revealed two handguns in a pan of cake batter.

Coleman was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and domestic battery after it was learned he had hit his girlfriend in the chest with a cross.
