Thousands of people demonstrated in Hong Kong again on Friday after the city's Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced a ban on face masks after months of unrest.
Many protesters defied the government, wearing face masks, starting fires and erecting barricades.
Lam invoked colonial-era emergency powers to ban facial coverings in response to violence during recent protests. The ban will take effect at midnight in Hong Kong.
Protests began in March over plans to extradite suspected criminals to mainland China. Despite the bill being cancelled, hundreds of thousands continue to protest until other demands are met.
