Facebook says its protecting your data, but Rep. Katie Porter sees their legal arguments in court as an attempt to exclude the tech giant from any accountability if user data is shared, breached, hacked, or stolen without the user's consent. Facebook also employs low-wage contract "reviewers" (young adults they pay next to nothing, and offer no benefits to) to spend hours watching graphic content to monitor if the content violates Facebook's terms. These contractors are subject to the worst videos on the internet, which is why Facebook takes the oh so generous approach of giving them monitored crying time during their workday.
