Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ tells us, in Matthew 11:27-30 that, “All things have been handed over to Me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
God never gives us challenges that He has not enabled for us to bear. If we hand over our circumstances to Him, He guarantees our victory. The man of God, Prophet Issaka taught on the importance of putting and consulting God first, in everything that we do. We must take advantage of the grace that is upon our lives, for whatever is written of us by the Father - whatever is willed by God for our lives, can never be stopped by anyone, except ourselves. It is our prayers and our praises that shake things and not our lamenting and murmuring. Therefore, we should spend our time praising, worshiping and meditating on the Word of God rather than spend it on worrying and doubting God in our lives. When we begin to doubt God and speak negatively against ourselves, God removes Himself from us. because He is pleased by our faith and not our worrying, murmuring and doubting.
When we put God first in our lives, He is able to help us and, through us, help others as well. When God becomes the first person we consult before anyone else with regards to life's issues, we allow Him into our lives and let Him do what we need Him to do for us. That way, He is able to meet us at our different points of need. When we put God first, we go to Him regarding our health, afflictions, pains, finances, joy, celebrations and every other situation we may be facing. In this way, we demonstrate our faith in Him and express His lordship over our lives. He begins to guide us in all our endeavours, deliver us from every affliction, heal us from our pains and set our finances free. When we turn to the Almighty, He helps us through all our problems. When we lean upon God, instead of upon ourselves, our finances, our family and our friends, we allow God to be God in our lives.
We serve a jealous God, who will not share His glory with anyone. He steps in when all others you have put before Him fail. This is why we must approach Him first. Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:10 that “That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” He understood that his strength comes from the Lord. The Lord has choice words for those who refuse to surrender to Him. It is written in Jeremiah 8:1-3 that “At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves. They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground. Wherever I banish them, all the survivors of this evil nation will prefer death to life, declares the Lord Almighty.”
We need God's help in everything that we do, because God enables us to do things that our natural selves are not able to do. When we are not able to love, God helps us look at and treat people with love and compassion. When we are not able to give, the Lord enables us to give, and when we are not able to help, only He can enable us to help others. Because God is full of love and compassion, He is the greatest Giver of all time and He is our divine Helper. Consequently, there is no other place our souls can find rest, except in Him.
The Word of God says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Our Creator seeks penitent hearts. He seeks hearts that have genuinely repented from past sins. Hearts that seek Him diligently in spirit and in truth. Hearts that love Him and reciprocate His love for us. He is the Lord who creates rivers in the wilderness, and water from the rock, just for us. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light! Follow Him.
