Note: The following video depicts a specific configuration of the notebook. The same removal and replacement procedures apply to all configurations of the notebook.
Before you begin: Remove the optical drive (if installed), base enclosure, battery, and primary storage drive.
Removal:
IMPORTANT: Make careful note of the routing of the speaker cable for later replacement.
Remove the two 2 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the right speaker to the top cover.
Lift the right speaker off of the alignment pins on the top cover and set aside.
Using minimal force, lift the locking bar up on the LED board ZIF connector and disconnect the LED board ribbon cable from the system board.
CAUTION! Use care to prevent damaging the ZIF connector and ribbon cable.
Remove the LED board ribbon cable from the adhesive that secures it to the top cover.
Remove the two 3 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the LED board to the top cover.
Lift the LED board off of the alignment pins on the top cover and remove.
Place the LED board in a static-dissipative bag.
Replacement:
Remove the LED board from the static-dissipative bag.
Place the LED board onto the alignment pins on the top cover.
Replace the two 3 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the LED board to the top cover.
Insert the LED board ribbon cable into the LED board ZIF connector on the system board and press the locking bar down to lock the cable into place.
CAUTION! Use care to prevent damaging the ZIF connector and ribbon cable.
Apply pressure to the length of the LED board ribbon cable to adhere it into position.
Place the right speaker onto the alignment pins on the top cover.
Replace the two 2 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the right speaker to the top cover.
Route the speaker cable through the routing channel on the top cover.
Caution: Improperly installing or replacing parts could damage your HP device or void your warranty. Before replacing any parts, check your warranty.
