Mauricio Pochettino's assistant Jesus Perez has revealed the classy message the Argentine manager left after being sacked by Tottenham.
Pochettino was handed his marching orders after a poor run of form domestically which leaves them 14th in the table.
There had been no comment from the 47-year-old about his sacking until late on Thursday evening when Perez posted two pictures on Twitter.
The first showed Pochettino writing a message on a whiteboard and the second revealed the handwritten note which said: "Big thanks to you all. We can’t say goodbye.
"You will always be in our hearts."
There were just 12 hours between the statement announcing Pochettino's exit and confirmation of Jose Mourinho's arrival.
And on Thursday, Mourinho was unveiled to the media and he started his press conference with a message to Pochettino.
"I’ve been smiling for two days. First of all, and I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio," he said.
"I have to congratulate him for the work that he did. I have to share with you what we already shared indoors which is that this club will always be his home, this training ground will always be his training ground.
"He can come when he wants, when he misses the players, when he misses the players that he worked with. The door is always open for him.
"From my experience, tomorrow is another day. He will find happiness again. He will find a great club again, and he will have a great future.
"He gave everything, every day at the club and he will leave with a sad feeling, but a feeling that he did great work.
"So I would just like to say that because it is what everyone at the club feels about it also. He will always be welcome here."
After his achievements at Tottenham, Pochettino will not be short of suitors and has been linked with the vacant manager’s role at Bayern Munich.
He has also been rumoured to be a target for Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past and still has admirers within those clubs.
