Lots of misconceptions out there about remote collars and how they are used. The thing is—they are extremely versatile and they communicate to dogs in a language they actually understand. Our words are pretty meaningless to dogs until we train them, and the e collar is the tool to help bridge that gap. There are so many levels to an e collar for a reason. We can communicate softly/slowly with a dog, or we can be louder/faster if needed, too. Think of the way you train a dog any foundation work with a leash. There is a time for constant leash pressure and a time for a quick pop. It all depends on the dog’s behavior and what you’re trying to communicate. Let’s all stop thinking remote collars are only for punishment or only for low level training. It’s not that black and white. The e collar can be used either way, and that’s why it is so effective on every dog.
