How Phillips Auction House Finds and Sells the World’s Rarest Watches

How Phillips Auction House Finds and Sells the World’s Rarest Watches Paul Boutros, Head of Watches at Phillips, knows a thing or two about how to sell a luxury watch at auction. Boutros has been responsible for countless sales, including the record highest-ever auction price ever set by a watch: in 2017, Paul Newman's own Rolex Daytona sold for nearly $18 million.

In advance of the Phillips GAME CHANGERS auction taking place in New York on December 10, 2019, Boutros came to Gear Patrol to discuss the curation, procurement, valuation and, ultimately, the selling of history's most incredible watches. He brought along special timepieces from the upcoming auction, including Marlon Brando's personal Rolex GMT-Master and golfer Jack Niklaus' 50-year-old gold Rolex Day-Date.
