Local health care provider says if you catch the flu, get treatment right away CINCINNATI (WKRC) - If you have a sore throat or are sniffling and sneezing right now, you probably have what's going around.

This is kind of what happens when we get together at the holidays: We start sharing food...and the flu viruses.

Kentucky tracks actual cases of the flu while Ohio just tracks flu activity, but both are going up. At HealthSource of Ohio in Mt. Washington, this team has been tracking the flu for several weeks.

They remind all of us it's not too late to get a vaccine, to protect against it, and if you think you have the flu you can get tested to find out.

Nurse practitioner Monica Brown says if the test shows it's bacterial, they can treat it that day. If it's viral, they'll have you come back in a few days if you don't feel better.

If you have the flu, they can give you an oral medication called Tamiflu. That medication shortens the duration, but only when given immediately. Otherwise, expect symptoms to last a good seven to 10 d
