Today the PlayStation turns twenty-five years young! So, we thought we’d celebrate by giving a rundown of what the future holds for Playstation. Specifically, we’re talking about the Playstation 5.
The new console is set to appear sometime next fall/winter. Or, as SONY says “holiday season.” But, even though there’s less than a year left until its release, there are still few details about the new machine.
One thing we do know is that it will feature a new and improved CPU. Instead of a spinning hard drive, it will be a solid-state drive. This means, pretty much, that everyone will move faster and the scope of games can be much bigger, with less pop-in and longer draw distances. But maybe the best part about this whole thing is that there will be zero–yes, zero–load times. A totally seamless, cinematic gaming experience.
Plus there’s going to be a haptic controller, happy birthday Playstation!
