In this video, I'm going to show you five tricks for remembering the licks you have learned and how to make them your own.

1. Become Sherlock Holmes. Investigate that lick that you are about to learn. Ask questions like How many notes the lick has? What is the key? What particular techniques are used? etc.

2. Tie the lick you are learning to a scale. Understanding the intervals that make the lick will let you know how and when to use it.

3. "Air guitar" the lick and sing it. Use your imagination to solidify the mental connections made when you are learning a new lick.

4. Use a backing track to play the lick and make it your own.

5. Play the lick in different positions. By doing this you are making the lick your own, as well.
