I just bought £1000 worth of scratch cards! Today's gambling challenge was £500 of store bought scratch cards vs £500 of online scratch cards. The person in the shop looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for 100 £5 scratch cards, but that didn't stop me. I bought 20 Merry Millions scratch cards, 20 Bingo Millionaire scratch cards, 20 Monopoly Millionaire scratch cards, 20 Instant 500 scratch cards and 20 Monopoly Jackpot scratch cards at £5 each for a total of £500.
The idea was to play them off against £500 of online scratch cards of a similar value. The online scratch cards purchased were 20 Fishin' Frenzy, 20 Pots o' Luck, 20 Genie Wild, 20 Big Foot and 20 Irish Eyes 2 scratch cards.
The online scratch cards mostly have higher odds than the shop bough ones but the prizes on the National Lottery scratch cards are often £1,000,000. Online it tends to be around 1000x the stake, so in this case £5000 for most of the cards although one of them had a top prize of £15,000.
This was a fun challenge although the Bingo Millionaire scratch cards were a nightmare to play through as the game is basically bingo, so there was a lot of checking numbers. Other than that, it was enjoyable although taking the winning cards back to the shop will be a bit time-consuming!
