In Brazil's region of Autazes, a mining company identified areas for potash mining. Potash is a mined salt that contains potassium and is widely used as a fertilizer. But the mining is taking place on indigenous land, which is illegal under the Brazilian constitution. In 2013, the mining company dug a well was in a sacred cemetery. Communities say they found out about the mining only when they started seeing trucks come in and work on the mining starting.
