My name is Kady McKoy. My family and I have been members of Spirit of Truth since 2010. My husband and I felt led to make and share this video, campaign fundraiser, and ask for help because we truly need it. I started attending this church in 2009 and became an official member in 2010. It changed my life! I was a high school dropout, a single mother, and struggling to find purpose in my life. I did because I found the Lord and got saved HERE. Through the Word of God being taught here, my faith and belief grew. The selfless examples of love, leadership, and perseverance have helped me to transform my life. I am now a wife and mother to my two children, a college graduate, a small business owner, and devoted to giving back in the community everything I found here because it wouldn’t have been possible without Spirit of Truth! This ministry is devoted to helping and building the community, its families, and meeting the local needs with outreach and various programs we host. We are truly in need of HELP! This is a description and timeline of events that have happened to my church’s building that has led us to what you see in the video above. Please take the time to read it and know that it has been a struggle over the past couple of years. We are asking for help, for a miracle, and for blessings. Thank you for your time and any consideration you may give to helping us in our efforts to restore and rebuild our building!
Spirit of Truth Praise & Worship Ministry has been in Lillington, NC since 2001. The building we are in, we rented for almost 17 years. In July of 2017, we were blessed to be able to purchase the building we had worshiped in, worked on, and made into a wonderful place to fellowship. We are a small ministry, small in numbers, but HUGE HEARTS for Christ and His people. The simple fact is that we did not have the finances to outright pay for our roof to be fixed. Even with all of this going on, we still have a place to worship and praise God… thanking Him for the building He has given us!
Our insurance company has come out, inspected the damage briefly, and concluded that they would only cover half of our roof since only half of it was blown off. This didn’t even include anything that has been damaged on the inside and went off of the lowest possible estimate they could find. Our average estimate was about $20,000 with our highest being almost $50,000. We were battling the roof so bad any time rain came, we didn’t even have the strength to fight them. So, it put us in the position, to trust God to help us. We have been searching for roofing companies that will finance us, but to no abound, we just don’t qualify. We have had several extremely professional, friendly contracting company representatives come out and they are willing to do the work, but only if the insurance pays up. The position we are in with the insurance company, they are refusing to, and we surely don’t have the ability to cover anything past what they would cover or pay for. Everything that they have paid, has all gone to simply trying to stop more damage from happening. Which is why we haven’t been able to have any work started or repairs done as of now.
Every time it rains, it’s getting worse. We have several tarps over our roof just trying to keep it under control until we are able to have work started. We have invested in getting it covered but that rain is STILL FINDING A WAY IN. Everywhere we have covered it, has caused it to find another way in. We have lost almost ALL of our items in storage, supplies for ministry and outreach, and are incurring endless damage as it sits as it is. It’s to the point where it is starting to spread closer and closer to the front of the building where there isn’t any leaks at all. It is heart wrenching to see the damage that is being done. My heart aches as I see it, as I write this, and I ask for help. My only prayer is that God places it on someone’s heart to fix it, to help us, and repair what is broken.
