Save Water With A Shower Head Shut Off Valve

Save Water With A Shower Head Shut Off Valve Looking for an easy way to cut down on your water bill? Attaching a shut off valve to your shower head is an easy solution.

These fittings work with all types of shower heads and allow you to cut your water usage without sacrificing the type of shower head that you use.

What's great is you can shut off the water to your shower head without shutting of the water to your valve, saving you precious time in the shower. So, when you're lathering up your hair in the shower and don't "really" need the water, you can shut it off until it's time to rinse your hair.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to install a shut off valve to a hand held shower head...but you can use this with a fixed, rain, filter or any showerhead you want really. Installation is pretty much the same.

You can buy this flow reducer valve on Amazon:

When we were searching for a shut off valve, we not only wanted something that could shut off the water entirely but just slightly reduce the water pressure. That way we could adjust the pressure to meet the needs of showering our family, like giving our baby a more gentle shower.

Obviously, something else that we wanted was an ergonomic shut-off valve.
Some of them on the market have these tiny push buttons that can be finicky and hurt your fingers. The one we use in this video has a nice, large lever handle. It's built with a ceramic cartridge to make sure that the lever slides easily, even after years of use.

And this wouldn't be a product we'd recommend at The Shower Head Store without it being built from high quality materials. Both the body and lever handle are made from metal so it can take some wear and tear.

Let’s jump into the video and show you just how easy it is to install this part and how well it functions.
