Stutong Community Market which is located in Kuching, Sarawak, is a large 2-storey building marketplace selling local grown fruit, vegetables, herbs, seafood, eggs and other Asian cooking ingredients. The ground floor is the market section while the upper floor is a food court that sell mostly local food such as mi kolok, laksa sarawak, kueh chap. The food court is further divided into 2 sections; for the non-muslim and muslim.
The market is opened in 2008, and officially launched in 2012. It can accommodates 550 stalls where the stalls will be rotated quarterly (every 3 months), a practice to ensure fairness among the traders.
Most all the traders in Stutong Community Market are used to trade in the old Gambier Market @ Cheko Market which had been closed down in 2008 due to give way for extention of Kuching Esplanade. The old Market was established in 1935 during the Brooke Era, for the local community to sell their jungle and domestic produces.
