When I arrived in Kyoto Station I headed straight to the Fushimi Inari Shrine which is home to the many Torii Gates, 10,000 gates in fact.
I wanted to get to the Kyoto Torii Gates early to avoid the crowds and although there was still a lot of people there it was much better at 9:00am when I arrived than 10:00am when I left!
Outside the Fushimi Inari Shrine are some street food stalls perfect for a quick brunch!
I took the metro from Inari Station to Gion Station which is a popular area of Kyoto as it's one of the Oldest areas at 200-300 years old with beautiful wooden merchant buildings lining the roads. It's also popular to see Geisha's in real life in Gion. I didn't see any but I did see lots of tourists dressed in their Kimono's under the Cherry Blossom.
I continued my walk along the river towards Kyoto Park and then to Kyoto Castle.
From Kyoto Castle I got on the Subway and then a JR line train to Saga Arashiyama Station where the famous Bamboo Grove is before taking the train back from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station using my JR Pass.
