Bringing the skipper back for the Selhurst Park test was a deliberate plan from Guardiola , but the coach was also pleased with the work that his full-backs did. "This kind of stadium, long balls are always there," he said. "Benteke is so strong in the air and Vinny is the best header of a ball that we have. Of course he has experience and the last few weeks he has trained good without any problems. "He played at a high level. He was controlling, and Laporte played incredible today, breaking the lines with his passes every time and switching play, passing the ball to Sergio [Aguero], David [Silva] and the other ones. We made a good process ,we controlled the counter with [Benjamin] Mendy and Kyle [Walker] and that is why I am very pleased with the performance." Guardiola also confirmed Aguero did not suffer an injury when he was withdrawn from the game in the second half.
