Hello everyone, today i will show you 5 tips for a better sounding vocal! All theses tips works great when you're working your vocals out, so be sure to stay until the end to get the fullest of this video. First of all, this is not really a tip, but everyone should do it, and it's very important, which is autotune and pitch correction. You can use newtone for this. A full tutorial on how to autotune was uploaded on my channel. So be sure to check that out before moving on with the second tip.

The second tip for a better sounding vocals is to layer your vocals. This is not like layering synths. To layer vocals, simply open up new, tone and load in the vocals. Now what you want to do is to alter the time of starting and end of the each notes. Don't change too much, just a subtle change would be good. A Pro tip is to hold alt while moving the notes. When you're done, simple click on send to playlist button. Now let's hear how it sounds like

The next tip is to harmonize the vocals. Same things first, load up the vocals into the new, tone. To harmonize vocals, you just have to play around with the notes, move them up, or down, and try to find a suitable melody. But don't change the time of the notes. Only change the tones. If the note is too long, don't forget to cut it using the cut tool.
Once you're done, click on the send to playlist button. Now let's listen how it sounds.

The 4th tip, is to layer the vocals with a synth, or an instrument. To demonstrate this, I will load up a simple synth. I'll use this synth as an example. Now load up the vocals into the new, tone. I swear this is the last time we'll be using new, tone, in this video. Once the vocals are loaded up, click on this little button here, send to midi. Be sure to select your synth first before doing this.

Now you can see the melody of the vocals are sent to the synth. Of course, it is not perfect, so you have to fix it manually. Trust me, use your ears, it's easy.

Now let's listen how it sounds like, with the synths layer.

The final tip is...

E Q wing. I know what you're thinking, you came here not just to hear to E Q your vocals. I know. You should EQ correctly. And how is that, here's a chart I found on Pinterest, for you to refer while E Q wing your vocals. Now what i have done here is I remove all the lows until around 100Hz. A little cut in the 150Hz and also I cut around the low mids. Because this area is usually muddy. Listen what happen when I raise the volume. It soundsunda muddy. I also boost around the 700Hz to add some clarity to the what the singer is saying. Or singing. And finally I put a top shelf on the high end for a clearer vocal. Now let's listen with and without E Q.
Okay, that's all for today, I have more tips to share on vocals, and will make more videos on it. So hit the subscribe button so you'll never miss a video!
