I found a great system a couple of years ago by Lansky which is a great way to restore the factory edge on your knives. The problem is, it's just a bit of a faff to use on a regular basis at home in your kitchen, so I've been hunting ever since for the perfect, cheap, convenient solution.
I found it when I remembered my Leatherman Surge penknife has a diamond sharpening file on it. So that, combined with a quick strop on the belt around my waist produced a really quick, effective, sharp knife.
After that discovery, I hunted the internet to try and find a similar file in a cheaper, more practical every day form, and the answer came on the Axminster website. I bought all 4 of the following tools (£29.77 including postage and tax) and put them to the test.
The stand out winner was the Diamond Sharpener Taper File
TODAY'S TOOL KIT *

* Whilst I purchased all these tools from Axminster, I have now signed up to their affiliate program. So if you click on one of the above links, it doesn't cost you any extra but gives me a very small commission, which goes some way towards helping me to continue to make this free content. Many thanks!
