The day of atonement was always a shadow pointing to the work of Jesus. One goat is killed to atone for the confessed sins of the people. One goat is driven into the wilderness to take away the unconfessed sins. This points to the work of Christ. He is the ultimate sacrifice to make the final atonement for our sins.
