The Schengen Area is named after this Luxembourg Village

Why is the European free-travel area named after the small town of Luxembourg in south-eastern Luxembourg, a place with a segment of the Berlin Wall 30 years after it was torn down.

What is Schengen like, why was it chosen for the signing of the Schengen Agreement and how do you get there from Luxembourg City, Trier and other places?
