House Committee on Rules sets parameters for Trump impeachment debate

The U.S. House Committee on Rules engaged in a hearing to determine the rules, length and terms of the floor debate on Dec. 18 regarding the two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, who lashed out against Democrats in a letter on Tuesday.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday signalled opposition to a Democratic request to call new witnesses in a Senate trial expected next month on whether to remove President Donald Trump from office, saying he would not allow a “fishing expedition” after a “slapdash” House impeachment process.
