Strategy: how to develop an ethical business?

Strategy: how to develop an ethical business? Business ethics allows businesses to develop a strong brand while building an impact-oriented strategy.

Ethics is so much more than just following laws and regulations. Many define business ethics as those businesses being socially and environmentally responsible. There are 3 interlinked fronts:
- Business ethics
- Corporate social responsibility
- Sustainability and the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

My 5 tips for you are:
- Be clear on your values, your purpose and the legacy you want to leave. Your business is not just an economic actor, but an actor of positive change. Choose to get involved in social or environmental projects. This will influence the general global environment and its ecosystems.

- Start inside and make your way out. Consider your employees as your first brand ambassadors and their wellbeing at work must mean a lot to you. Put in practice actions such as non-discrimination, gender equality, work-life balance and involve them as if they were micro-leaders within your team because their recommendations, ideas and feedbacks will mean a lot for your business growth.

- Be curious about the challenges your global environment is facing: the habitat and the society. Get involved in meaningful projects and to reinvest part of your profit in environmental or social projects: reforesting, building a school in under-developed regions, accompanying under-represented minorities in their daily challenges.

- Think outside the box and imagine how your business can impact smaller entities, such as entrepreneurs that are starting you. Partner with public authorities in mentoring these entrepreneurs in order to develop their business by sharing with them the challenges your business has faced.

- Set ethical guidelines and working procedures. The leader that succeed and get top clients, partners, employees, sponsors, investors are those that understand the importance of ethical leadership within their business. You will set positive examples for your employees and other businesses that are following you. And again, you will have a positive impact on your environment. Develop ethical leadership in order to set positive examples. Leaders who understand this are more likely to attract top employees and clients. Everyone in the team is responsible.
