**WHO IS DR. TY?**
ABOUT: Dr. Tyeese L. Gaines wears many hats. She is a branding & media coach for physicians with her agency Doctor Ty Media, LLC, after earning her master's degree in journalism from Northeastern University and having an 18-year news career (mostly with NBC outlets). A Jersey City native, she is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and founder of NOWmed Walk-In Urgent Care in her hometown. Dr. Ty also completed a Master of Business Administration degree from University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2017 and incorporates her marketing and entrepreneurship coursework with her coaching. She speaks at several regional and national meetings each year.
 
MEDIA: After interning at media outlets such as WAVE3 (NBC) in Louisville and WCVB (ABC) in Boston, Dr. Ty got her start as an associate producer for NBC6/WTVJ in Miami during medical school. Over the years, Dr. Ty has appeared as an on-air medical expert for local, online and national news shows and has written for various online, magazine and newspaper outlets.
 
MEDICINE/MANAGEMENT: Dr. Ty is a practicing, board-certified emergency medicine physician with years of healthcare management experience. Dr. Gaines previously served as Medical Director & Chairman of the Emergency Department at Landmark Medical Center in Rhode Island; Medical Director of UltraMed Urgent Care in Skokie, Illinois; and Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Raritan Bay Medical Center. She completed her residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital where she was chief resident, and later taught as a clinical instructor.
 
HONORS & AWARDS: In 2014, Dr. Ty became a fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians, and in 2011 was honored with a Top 40 under 40 award from the National Medical Association. Dr. Gaines earned certification as a Physician Executive (CPE) in 2017 from the American Association of Physician Leaders, and a certificate in Urgent Care Management from the Urgent Care Association of America (UCA) in 2018. In 2019, she was honored with the Jersey City NAACP award for her work in the community, including proclamations from the mayor of Jersey City.
